![]() The National Capital Chapter, with support of other TU chapters and Federation of Fly Fishers chapters, established Project Healing waters to provide wounded military personnel being treated at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and Bethesda Naval Medical Center opportunities to learn or relearn fly-fishing and fly-tying skills, and to apply those skills on fishing outings. Inspired by the successful Casting for Recovery therapy program for breast cancer survivors, the Project offers the wounded men and women therapeutic training in fly-casting and fly-tying, as well as recreational fishing outings. Project Healing Waters is attracting support from individual volunteers, equipment manufacturers and retailers, and professional fishing guides and outfitters. The need continues to grow, however, and much additional support is required to provide the Project’s services to these wounded members of the military who have sacrificed so much in the service of our country. For more information, to volunteer to assist, or to make a contribution, see www.projecthealingwaters.org, or contact Ed Nicholson by e-mail, or calling 301 934-0975. ![]() |
