​​The Chapter is in the planning stages of our outings and social events for 2017-2018.  Our trips will accommodate all levels of fishing experience.

SEPTEMBER 26: The International Fly Fishing Film Festival, 8:30p at the Avalon Theater, 5612 Connecticut Ave NW, Washington DC 


NOVEMBER 9: STEELHEAD with Richie Farino at Rockbottom Restaurant and Brewery, 7900 Norfolk Ave., Bethesda

DECEMBER 10: Holiday Party with Dusty Wissmath at The Inn at Glen Echo, Bethesda, MD. 3p-6p

MARCH:  The latter part of this month is the beginning of shad fishing time at Fletcher's Cove on the Potomac River.

APRIL: April is peak time for shad fishing, so no formal NCC-TU outing is planned.  

  May 13, Fly fishing 101 at Big Hunting Creek in Thurmont, MD.  Sponsor: Tom Mann 

JUNE:  June 3 & 4,Overnight at Graves Mountain Lodge in Syria, VA to fish the Rapidan, Rose and other Shenandoah Mountain streams for native brook trout.  Sponsor tbd

June 24, Birch Run, recent stream restoration, picnic with Adams County PA TU Chapter. Sponsor tbd

SEPTEMBER: September 9, Gunpowder River, Parkton, MD, with the Backwater Angler, and  a possible post-picatorial cocktail party.  Sponsor: Dan Sheesley

SEPTEMBER: September 9    Our traditional Big Gunpowder Falls River event with lunch provided by the Chapter at the Backwater Angler, Parkton, MD (north of Baltimore). The Gunpowder River’s Catch and Release host to a wild, stream-bred population of Brown Trout. Consistent Coldwater releases from Prettyboy Reservoir create an cold water habitat that has landed the Big Gunpowder Falls River in Field and Stream's top 5 U.S. tailwaters and Trout Unlimited’s 100 best Trout Streams List. Possible post-piscaocial cocktail party.  Sponsor: Dan Sheesley

NOVEMBER: November 17 - 19  Fish two days on our overnight trip to fish Elk Creek (near Erie), PA for steelhead trout. Guides, lodging and some meals are included for a cost of approximately $550. This trip has been great fun, and usually sells out fast. Contact us if you are interested.

NB: We try to coordinate our outings with the topics covered in the monthly chapter meetings. Preceding the meeting program we often offer fly tying demonstrations for the types of flies recommended for fishing on the upcoming outings.
